In addition to the above requirements, the design point shall be located within the best efficiency range of the pump. Efficiency range is within the -5% of the pump’s peak efficiency. Pump efficiency located outside the -5% range of the peak efficiency is acceptable provided that the efficiency is higher than the required minimum pump efficiency. Pump Elements and Construction - The impellers shall be of the enclosed or semi-open type, constructed of bronze, cast iron or stainless steel, accurately fitted, smoothly finished, and dynamically balanced at normal pump speeds. They shall have removable wearing rings and lateral seal rings mounted in their companion cases. The bowl cases shall be constructed of cast iron or stainless steel. Pump bearing shall be at least 2-1/2 times the diameter of the shaft. The pump shaft shall be of 18-8 stainless steel. The discharge outlet diameter shall be four (4) inches (4″ Ø) for both the 30 HP and 15 HP pump and motor assemblies. If the discharge outlet diameter is not four (4) inches, the supplier shall provide a suitable concentric reducer to achieve the required four-inch connection.
